The Second Chance Act of 2007
Signed by the President on April 9, 2008, this legislation will help ex-offenders with their transition to life on the outside in five specific areas: employment, housing, mental health, substance abuse treatment and strengthening families.

The Prisoner Reentry Initiative
This initiative is supported by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP) and its federal partners: the U.S. Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development and Labor. This initiative is a comprehensive effort that addresses both juvenile and adult populations of serious, high-risk offenders.
